Recall monitoring for marketplace sellers

Know when something you sell is recalled

A recalled SKU that stays listed can get pulled by the marketplace, count against your account health and leave you exposed for the units you shipped. recallsapi.com checks your catalog against US recalls from CPSC, FDA and NHTSA, and tells you when a new recall matches.

Built for sellers on Amazon, Walmart, eBay and Shopify. Upload your SKUs as CSV or JSON with whatever you have: UPC, model number, NDC, lot code, brand and name.

How monitoring works

  1. Upload your catalog. Send SKUs as CSV or JSON, up to 5,000 rows per upload, or the marketplace export as it comes. Each item needs at least a name, UPC, model, NDC or VIN.
  2. See matches right away. Every item is checked against every recall in the database at upload, and the response lists what matched.
  3. Get alerts for new recalls. Once a day the pipeline pulls new and changed recalls from each agency and matches them against your catalog. New matches go to your email and to your webhook, signed with HMAC-SHA256.
  4. Review and act. Each match links to the agency notice. Confirm it against your product, then delist, pull stock or dismiss the match.

Every match shows its work

exact

The barcode (UPC, EAN, GTIN) or the NDC package code on your item appears in the agency record.

strong

An identifier confirmed by your brand, a distinctive model number, an NDC product code or an FSIS establishment number.

possible

Brand and product name overlap, or a weak identifier on its own. Worth a look before you act.

Each match lists the reasons behind it (for example gtin 00041548000121 or brand), the agency notice link and the date we last saw the record change. How confidence is decided.

What a match is, and what it is not

A match is information to review against the agency notice. It is not a safety, legal or compliance determination, and recallsapi.com does not decide whether your product is affected. No match does not mean a product is safe or has never been recalled: a recall is matched only when the identifiers or names you send appear in the government record.

Plans and limits are on the pricing page. The free plan is opt-in: you get it by creating an API key.
