Terms of service
Effective 2026-10-06.
1. Who we are
recallsapi.com (the "service") is operated and sold by PrimeZen LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("PrimeZen", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between PrimeZen and you, the person or organization that creates an API key or otherwise uses the service ("you"). If you use the service for an organization, you accept these terms for it. Contact: hello@recallsapi.com.
2. The service
The service collects recall records published by US government agencies (the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the Food and Drug Administration and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; records from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service are planned), normalizes them into one format, and makes them available through a REST API, catalog monitoring with alerts, an MCP server and this website, together with documentation.
3. What the data is, and is not
- Recall records come from US government sources. We republish them with a link to the agency source and the date we last saw each record change. We do not create, verify or change the underlying government findings.
- The service provides information. It is not a safety, legal, regulatory or compliance determination, and it is not legal or professional advice.
- Matches between your products and recalls carry a confidence level (exact, strong or possible) and the reasons for the match. Every match must be reviewed against the agency notice before you act on it. You decide what to do about a match.
- The absence of a match does not mean a product is safe, compliant or free of recalls. A recall is matched only when the identifiers or names you provide appear in the government record.
- Government data can be incomplete, delayed or wrong, and agencies publish on their own schedules. The service states the freshness of each source through
/v1/health; we do not promise completeness, accuracy or timeliness beyond what the service states there and in the documentation.
4. Accounts and API keys
- You get an API key by giving a valid email address; we send the key to that address. One free account per inbox: aliases of one address (for example with a +tag) count as one.
- Keep your keys secret. You are responsible for all use of your keys. Tell us promptly at hello@recallsapi.com if a key is exposed.
- We may revoke a key or suspend an account that breaks these terms, threatens the service or other users, or is used to get around plan limits.
5. Plans, quotas and payment
- Plans and their limits are described on the pricing page. The free plan is available only to accounts that create an API key and may be changed or withdrawn.
- Paid plans are subscriptions billed in advance, monthly or yearly, through our payment processor, Stripe. You authorize recurring charges until you cancel. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and the account then returns to the free plan.
- Fees are not refundable except where the law requires otherwise. Prices exclude taxes, which are added where they apply.
- We may change prices or plan limits with at least 30 days' notice by email for paid plans. A change applies from your next billing period.
6. Acceptable use
You may use the service and its results inside your own business, products and services, including showing results to your own users with the agency source links. You may not:
- Resell, sublicense or redistribute the recall feed or a bulk copy of the database, or offer it as a competing API, dataset or data feed, without a written license from PrimeZen.
- Use the service or its data as a consumer report, or to make or support decisions about any individual's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act or similar laws.
- Present a match as a government determination, or as a statement by recallsapi.com or PrimeZen that a company or product is unsafe.
- Get around quotas or plan limits, for example by creating several accounts or sharing keys between organizations.
- Probe, scan, overload or attack the service, or access it other than through the documented interfaces.
- Upload personal data about consumers in catalog fields, or upload anything you do not have the right to share.
- Use the service from, or on behalf of anyone in, a country or region under comprehensive US sanctions.
- Use the service for anything unlawful.
7. Your data
Catalogs, items and settings you upload remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them to provide the service, including matching, alerts and support. How we handle them is described in the privacy policy. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you upload and for having the right to upload it.
8. Disclaimer
To the fullest extent the law allows, the service and all data are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any recall will be included or matched.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
- PrimeZen is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, sales, data or goodwill, including losses from listing removals, marketplace account actions, product recalls, returns or claims, even if told such damages were possible.
- PrimeZen's total liability for all claims about the service is limited to the greater of the fees you paid for the service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or one hundred US dollars.
10. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify PrimeZen against third-party claims arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms or the law, or from content you upload.
11. Suspension and termination
You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or end your access for a breach of these terms, for non-payment, or if we stop offering the service; if we stop offering a paid service, we will refund any prepaid fees for the unused period.
12. Changes
We may update the service and these terms. For material changes to these terms we will give notice on this page and, for accounts with an email on file, by email, at least 30 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict of laws rules. The state and federal courts located in Texas have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes about these terms or the service, and both parties consent to that jurisdiction.
